What a home battery actually costs in 2026

The residential 25D credit is gone for new homeowner-owned installs. These figures are hardware list snapshots plus typical electrical work. They are not bids.

Worked example (not a quote)

Ultra X + SHP3 hardware $10,999 + $2,000 labor/permit ≈ $13,000 out the door if the panel is healthy. A year ago many articles would have shown ~$9,100 after 30%. That subtraction is no longer valid for a 2026 homeowner-owned system.

If the number above is too high, a $1,800–$2,800 portable covering fridge, internet, and medical devices is the rational first spend.
